What is a Stratetegic Plan?

The Strategic Plan is the foundation that supports all other plans, policies and projects.  It provides focus to guide actions and future decisions.  It is a long-term planning document that directs the Region's priority setting.

A New Strategic Plan for the Region of Waterloo

Much has changed in the world and much has been achieved by the Region of Waterloo since the 2007-2010 Strategic Plan.  To remain focused and relevant, the Region is developing a new Strategic Plan for the council term of 2011-2014.

Timeline

The projected timeline for development of the new Strategic Plan is:

• November 2010 - February 2011: initial consultation period
• March 2011 - April 2011: development of draft strategic priorities
• May 2011 - June 2011: public input on the draft priorities
• May 2011 - June 2011: incorporate input into draft plan and finalize
• June 29, 2011: Council review and approval of strategic plan
